4The hd led 3d ready projector review
By Danny
First time getting a projector and I love it good picture for the price and for what it is. I love all the hook ups and everything i have it hooked up to a reciever and some speakers for great surround sound. I haven't tried the 3d yet but soon with my ps3 I will so couldn't tell ya on that. Picture is a lil dark can't watch in a bright room gotta cover up windows. Gaming is great and fun with the screen I go set up for 130 inches and the surround sound its like playin in a theater pretty cool. Perfect for movie nights with friends, family or whatever and an awesome way to make your friends jealous. I got my ps3 and xbox 360 hooked up til the new systems come out which will be awesome.

Pros:
Its got every hook up you'll need
Easy set-up
Fan noise is low
Great for movie nights and gaming for first timers which I fall under as
Great buy for the price
Screen gets huge between 25 and 300 inches I got it at 130 inches on a huge white sheet in my game room

Cons:
Pictures dark sometimes gotta mess with the settings to get it right
Hard to use in bright rooms I had to hang a dark sheet over my big windows for it during the day
The internal speaker blows that's why I got some surround sound
Doesn't stay focused in all corners a lil blurry sometimes unless you can get it set up jus right which is tough

3You get what you pay for.
By Nathan Deren
This was my first entry into the projector market. I didn't really know what to expect, and I wasn't really sure what I was getting. The price seemed right so I jumped on it. As it turns out one of the HDMI slots was defective and I'm not entirely thrilled with the overall package, so I'm returning it and trading up for a nicer model. Understanding that I don't have much to compare it to, here are my impressions after 3-4 weeks of use.

I set it up on one side of my living room, projecting against the wall on the other side. I did not invest in a screen initially, and my walls are stucco, so the images ended up having a bumpy pattern. I thumbtacked a white sheet to the wall and that solved that problem nicely - it was an immediate improvement in visual fidelity. Unfortunately, during daylight hours even with my blinds drawn the ambient light in the room really washed out the display. Watching dark movies (Thor, for example) late at night with all the lights in my apartment off, I still had a hard time making out quite a few of the details. The colors were initially extraordinarily dull, and I needed to play with the screen settings sliders in order to get any sort of picture that didn't resemble an Instagram photo. On the plus side display settings are stored individually for each input so they can be configured independently; on the minus side display settings are stored individually for each input so they _have_ to be configured independently.

Setup, I must say, was extremely annoying. I ended up having to balance it on a pile of books and extend the legs in order to get the picture where I wanted it on my wall, and I never did manage to get it perfectly rectangular. You can adjust the focus on the lens and there's a tilt switch in the back that helps you aim the lens in the direction you want; unfortunately, if it isn't perfectly centered, you get blurry corners. There unfortunately doesn't seem to be anything you can do about this. It makes setup more difficult than it ought to be. Heaven help you if the projector's platform gets jostled or if you need to adjust the things hooked up to it in any way.

The fan is loud. It exhausts out the left side (standing behind the unit) and it's much louder if you're on that side. It also doesn't really seem like the remote works very well. It can be very difficult to get the projector to register that a button has been pressed on the remote, even when the remote is pointed directly at the unit from just a few feet away.

It needs to be stated that even though this is 1080p capable, it is *NOT* a 1080p projector. Its native resolution is 1280x768, which has an aspect ratio of 15:9 (5:3). This matches neither the 16:9 1080p standard or the 4:3 of oldschool CRT sets, and as such the former is going to get squished a bit while the latter gets stretched. It's not always noticeable if you're playing a game or watching TV, but if you've got a computer hooked up to it and (say) bring up a command prompt, all of a sudden the text starts to look really funky. It was blurry too. I was not impressed with its performance as a PC display device, even when said PC was hooked up via HDMI.

Further, despite what Amazon's listing title would have you believe, it is *NOT* 3D capable. If you look in the questions and answers, you'll see the question "please let me know what kind of 3D system have this projector?" and the answer, "The 3D system is Red & Green 3D system." In other words, it's the same sort of 3D you'd get from old magazines, cutting out those paper glasses with the junky plastic wrap for lenses. My old CRT TV from 1986 was capable of that kind of 3D. You could do that with the Sega Master System (Space Harrier represent!) That does not make this a 3D projector.

The speaker on the unit is poor, but hey, it's a projector. You're buying it for a visual experience, not an aural one; if you're going to shell out for something like this, you're probably more than okay with buying even an inexpensive sound bar and routing audio through the projector and into your external speaker unit. As a further note, it should be stated that even though this projector has a VGA input, it does *not* have a 1/8 inch standard jack audio input and as such cannot be treated as a computer speaker. One of the first things I did with this projector was hook up my Dreamcast via a VGA Box. The display was nice, but I had to hook up a pair of computer speakers to the VGA Box's audio output; the lack of 1/8 inch input prevented me from routing my Dreamcast's audio through the projector and out my external speaker. The VGA input on the speaker is also very, very loose; there's barely any room for the screws on the cable.

This is an OFF-BRAND 1280x768 projector. I'm not normally one to proclaim brand loyalty from the rooftops, but in this case, it's an important point and needs to be emphasized. Eventually you're going to have to replace the lamp in the unit, and as lamps are specific to each projector (or, at least, each brand) you're going to have a bear of a time finding one that'll fit this. If you can't find a replacement then the projector itself has a limited lifespan, and given that bulbs normally run a couple hundred you'd almost be better off outright replacing the unit.

With all that said, this projector is fairly inexpensive as far as these things go, and it's not bad for what it is. While my unit is defective and I've decided to invest in a nicer model, I did enjoy the use I got out of it. Had I less choice from a financial perspective I may have stuck with this one. As an entry-level or budget device this may suit your needs, but as fun as it was I found the experience overall lacking.

2We had to retun this projector
By Telluride Alpine Lodging
I believe we received a defective projector as it did not have the contrast ratio to be used for spreadsheets and presentations in a darkened room. The image appeared as if it had a grey film over it regardless of the settings.

We decided to not take a chance with this model and went to a slightly more expensive model that works well even if the rooms lights are on, making us more confident that the one we received was simply defective.
